SAMHSA 2022 Forecast: Almost $2 Billion in Grants for CCBHCs

      Featured Image

Responding to the burgeoning need for quality community mental and substance use disorder treatment services, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has announced plans to award nearly $2 billion in forecasted grants to CCBHCs for the fiscal year 2022.

The bulk of Money Going to State Opioid Programs

In all, SAMHSA plans to disperse $1,913,350,000 in grant money to 19 programs. Grant amounts range from $1.42 billion to $2 million. Factoring out the $1.42 billion, which accounts for almost 75% of the total allocated funds, the average grant amount is $27.4 million.

The recipient of the $1.42 billion grant is the State Opioid Response (SOR) grant program, which is administered by SAMHSA and targets the opioid crisis by increasing access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT), reducing unmet treatment needs, and reducing opioid overdose-related deaths.

The SOR grant will be distributed among states and territories, including 15% set aside for the 10 states with the highest mortality rates related to drug poisoning deaths.
